Loughborough estate, Brixton
This
was a major piece of work carried out through Freeform Arts Trust.
One of the more depressing estates in Brixton which has subsequently
been
partly demolished, the sculpture however is still standing.
The project involved mosaics along the column and walls of the
block,
sculptural seating areas as well as the Arts Sculpture arch.
Residents were involved in the whole process. They enjoyed the
ceramics so
much that they set up a small pottery and made huge planters for
their
flats. I ran the pottery and held open sessions for the tenants.
What a
wealth of talent we discovered.
